UNIMONT’s research activities and initiatives contribute to promote digitalization in the Alpine Region

On May 27th and 28th, 2021, UNIMONT – Center of Excellence of the University of Milan – has been invited to participate and contribute to the Digital Alps Conference organized by EUSALP’s Action Group 5. The event aims to gather contributions and create synergies to highlight the potential of digitalization for the territories of the Alpine Region.


Thanks to its experience in promoting and developing research, technology transfer and dissemination activities, UNIMONT is now called upon to participate and contribute to the main national projects and working groups on issues relevant to mountain areas.

The Digital Alps Conference organized by the EUSALP Action Group 5 aims to collect contributions and create synergies to highlight the potential of digitization for the territories of the Alpine Region. On this occasion, the Smart Village approach will be presented and the first Smart Village network in the Alps will be launched.

UNIMONT will bring its contributions during the two days of the conference.
On May 27th, Dr. Stefano Sala – CrC Ge.S.Di.Mont. will contribute by presenting the toolbox developed within the ARPAF Impuls4Action project which collected good practices from the 7 Countries of EUSALP in order to promote sustainable practices on the topic of soil consumption in the Alpine Region. On May 28th, Prof. Anna Giorgi, Director of Ge.S.Di.Mont. Research Center and Leader of EUSALP Action Group 1 – Research & Innovation delegate of the of Lombardy Region, will bring a contribution during the round table, underlining the potentialities and the importance of digitalization for the development and the valorization of Italian and European mountain territories.
