30.09.2020 WEBINAR “Conservation of Anthropocene Refugia in mountain landscapes”

from the Italian Mountain Lab project: a strategic alliance between universities for the Italian mountains

The University of Tuscia has organized and presented the webinar “Conservation of Anthropocene Refugia in mountain landscapes”

as part of the strategic alliance between universities for the Italian mountains established with the project Italian Mountain Lab (IML) – FISR project– Special supplementary fund for MIUR research – headed by the University of Milan, with its UNIMONT center of excellence in partnership with the University of Eastern Piedmont and the University of Tuscia.

The alliance of the three partner universities in the “Italian Mountain Lab, Research and Innovation for the mountain environment and territories” project, in addition to producing new knowledge thanks to joint research, proposes joint training and third mission activities regarding the Italian mountains.

In this context, the University of Tuscia has organized a webinar on Wednesday 30th   September 2020 – from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. – aimed in particular at doctoral students, research fellows and young researchers, which deals with the issues of monitoring, nature conservation and rewilding within shelter areas and biodiversity hotspots.

The appointment is open to all those interested.

CONTENTS

During the day, particular attention will be paid to the applied aspects of conservation biology that will be addressed in real cases of protected areas. The first case will be that of the Alto Aspromonte State Forest which in September will be visited by IUCN experts as part of the world heritage candidacy process. Thanks to the meeting between the representatives of the world of research and territorial governance – represented by the Aspromonte Park and the Carabinieri Forestali Biodiversity Group – attention will be focused on strategies for the conservation of biodiversity with examples of best practices and critical issues still existing today.
