On Tuesday, June 16, the Brixia Forum in Brescia hosted the warm-up event “Mountain, Youth, and Inclusion.” The meeting was promoted by Pro Brixia a Special Agency of the Brescia Chamber of Commerce as part of the run-up to “M come Montagna“, a new exhibition and conference scheduled for November 14 and 15, 2026. The event aimed to reflect on the role of younger generations and the value of mountains as spaces for growth, well-being, and inclusion. Among the key speakers was Professor Anna Giorgi, Head of the UNIMONT Hub at the University of Milan, who shared her insights on the sustainable development of mountain territories and the opportunities they offer to young people.
The initiative served as an important platform for dialogue among institutions, academia, healthcare professionals, associations, athletes, local operators, and organizations, reinforcing the value of mountains as environments for both personal and collective growth. Through diverse experiences, testimonies, and contributions, a shared vision emerged: the mountain as an educational, inclusive, and transformative setting capable of fostering independence, trust, responsibility, and meaningful relationships.
The debate highlighted how enhancing mountain territories can contribute to building more welcoming and attractive communities. These areas can offer concrete opportunities for younger generations and people facing vulnerabilities, while simultaneously strengthening the bond between people, the land, and sustainable development.
Moderated by Nunzia Vallini, Director of the Giornale di Brescia, and introduced by Roberto Zini, President of Pro Brixia, the debate featured a video message contribution from Federica Picchi, Undersecretary for Sport and Youth of Regione Lombardia, and the participation of Camilla Bianchi, Councilor for Ecological Transition, Environment, Green Spaces and Energy Policies of the Municipality of Brescia, Anna Giorgi, Full Professor and Head of the UNIMONT Hub of the University of Milan, Chiara Mulè, Director of the Rehabilitation and Functional Recovery Department of Fondazione Poliambulanza, Emanuele Frugoni, Lombardy Representative of SIMonT and of the Mountain Therapy Commission of the CAI of Brescia, Claudio Dal Ben, President of the Società Escursionisti Bresciani Ugolini, Tony Massardi, owner of Gialdini Outdoor, Pamela Novaglio, Paralympic athlete, and Enzo Rizzi, President of the Brescia Section of the ANA – National Alpine Association.
