Students of the University of Bari at UNIMONT to study the woods of Valle Camonica

From 15th to 17th May, the UNIMONT campus of the University of Milan hosted some students of the three-year degree course “Science and Technology of the Territory and Agro-Forestry Environment” of the University of Bari, accompanied by Professor Giovanni Sanesi, lecturer of the course “General and Special Forestry”.

Thanks to its location in Edolo, in the heart of the Central Alps, the UNIMONT campus of the University of Milan is a point of reference for all those who wish to study the forest systems of mountain environments.

In fact, the students of the University of Bari had the opportunity to visit the woods of the Upper Camonica Valley, including those affected by the bark beetle, as well as some sawmills and district heating plants which operate with a view to making the wood supply chain sustainable, accompanied by experts, including Matteo Vizzarri, Researcher at the University of Milan.

After visiting the UNIMONT campus, students also met Gian Battista Sangalli, director of the Forestry and Mountain Reclamation Service of the Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica, who presented methods for managing the woods of Valle Camonica.

The stay ended with a meeting with the journalist Massimo Calvi who, as part of the literary review RacCONTA LA MONTAGNA, presented his latest book “L’uomo che guardava la montagna”.
