COLDIRETTI BRESCIA | Agriculture and the future .. with the eyes of the mountains: UNIMONT commented on its experience as a unique and strategic centre for the development of mountain areas towards ecological transition.

A new appointment in the series of “Sempre in Contatto” events, organized by Coldiretti Brescia and which aim to discuss new challenges for the world of agriculture, was held on Friday 12th March at 10.30 a.m.. On this occasion, particular attention was given to mountain areas and to the innovative approaches to be implemented to make the mountains “alive”.


After more than twenty years of training, research and third mission activities exclusively dedicated to mountain areas, the UNIMONT Centre of Excellence of the University of Milan is today a unique platform, increasingly broad and open, which promotes and tests innovative approaches to enhance the peculiarities of mountain areas. For this reason, it was asked to make a contribution to the meeting dedicated to “Agriculture and the future….. with the eyes of the mountains”.

Prof. Anna Giorgi presented the experience of UNIMONT, highlighting how, by making use of professional, methodological, organizational and technological skills, as well as interacting with local actors and activating win-win collaboration opportunities, it is possible to trigger useful and effective actions to face the new challenges of changes in view of sustainability.

Institutional representatives attending the working table included: Ettore Prandini, President of Coldiretti; Fabio Rolfi, Councillor for Agriculture, Food and Green Systems of the Lombardy Region; Gabriele Calliari, president of FederForeste; Anna Giorgi, Director of the Ge.S.Di.Mont Research Centre of the UNIMONT centre in Edolo and President of the Undergraduate Course in “Improvement and Protection of Mountain Environments”, delegated by the Rectorate for the promotion of the educational development, research and third mission project.
