From June 2 to 5, 2026, the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) will host the Sustainability Science Conference, an international event promoted by Future Earth Pathways. The initiative explores how technological innovations can support an ecological transition that is, at the same time, socially just.
The event features various thematic sessions and interactive workshops designed to analyze the role of technology not just as a technical tool, but as a catalyst for social justice. It aims to provide a critical perspective on current “polycrises”, from climate change to inequality, proposing alternative models such as “low-tech,” agroecology, and the integration of indigenous knowledge.
The initiative is aimed at researchers, sustainability professionals, and decision-makers interested in understanding the impact of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, on planetary boundaries and collective wellbeing.
