The training programme promoted by the UNIMONT Hub of the University of Milan offers numerous learning opportunities directly in the local area. On 6 November 2025, students took part in the Wolf Farm Tour, a day trip to Valtellina and Valchiavenna organised in collaboration with NoiroMec as part of the course on Structures, Planning, Management and Surveying of Mountain Areas, taught by Prof. Elisabetta Riva. The initiative was designed to encourage direct interaction with some of the leading agricultural businesses in the Alpine context.
During the morning, the group travelled to Cedrasco (S0) for their first scheduled visit to the Fortini Cristian farm, where students were able to observe cutting-edge techniques and equipment up close. This was a valuable opportunity to understand the increasingly central role of technology in the evolution of mountain livestock farming practices.
In the afternoon, the tour continued with visits to two farms that are emblematic for their production diversification and sustainable livestock management: the Dominici farm in Traona (SO) and, subsequently, the Marioli Sonia farm in Talamona (SO).
The initiative was a veritable open-air laboratory, allowing participants to analyse organisational models, operational challenges and innovative solutions adopted by mountain farms. This was a fundamental part of the training programme offered by UNIMONT, which has always been committed to promoting the skills necessary for the growth and sustainability of Alpine territories.
