UNIMONT takes part in Erbale Forum – The world of officinals makes system 27-28 September 2019, Padova Fiere

UNIMONT – Excellence pole of the Università degli Studi di Milano will participate in ERBALE FORUM – The world of officinaries makes a system, organized as part of the 70th FLORMART – International Exhibition of Nursery, Landscape and Green Structures, Friday 27 September with an intervention of Dr. Luca Giupponi on the quality of Italian saffron and Saturday 28 September and an intervention by Prof.ssa Anna Giorgi-coordinator of the Research Center Ge.S.Di.Mont. – which will focus on the role and opportunities of the officinaries for the development of mountain areas.

Medicinal, aromatic, nutritional, cosmetic, biotechnological, phyto-reliant, recreational: medicinal plants feed an articulated and complex supply chain in which territory, tradition and scientific research come together to give new answers to the need to live in harmony with nature. The technological advances regarding the biologically active substances present in plants, which allow ever more innovative applications in the most diverse fields, are broadening the vision of the officinal sector, which can no longer be seen as a niche market, but as the source of new natural substances with high added value.

In this context, the interventions planned for ERBALE FORUM by the Crc Ge.S.Di.Mont .:

  • Friday, September 27th 3.30pm: The quality of saffron made in Italy; Dott. Luca Giupponi, Researcher Crc Ge.S.Di.Mont.
  • Saturday, September 28th 9.00 am: The potential of the officinaries for the mountain territories in the national and European context; Prof. Anna Giorgi, Coordinator of the Crc Ge.S.Di.Mont

The interdepartmental Research Center has been working on issues concerning medicinal herbs and the Italian saffron supply chain for several years, concretely collaborating with mountain farms to promote a sustainable and innovative supply chain, able to produce new products thanks to history and peculiarities of the territory.
