UNIMONT – Centre of Excellence of the University of Milan took part in “MEETmeTONIGHT 2019″ – European Researchers’ Night – with two initiatives on 27th September in Edolo (BS) at the UNIMONT Campus – Mountain University and on 28th September in Milan at the Indro Montanelli Gardens
European Researchers’ Night, in hundreds of cities throughout Europe, aims to bring researchers and citizens of all ages closer together and was the flagship event of Science Week 2019, from September 21st to 28th, seven days full of scientific initiatives aimed at the general public. Interactive experiments, visits to laboratories, meetings with researchers, conferences, games, shows, scientific aperitifs and much more will be the key to approaching and learning about the world of research and researchers.
Medicinal Plants, Dye Plants and Local Cultivars were at the center of the meeting, organized by UNIMONT – Mountain University and by the researchers of the Ge.S.Di.Mont. research centre, in order to valorize some specific products of mountain areas and highlight new issues for environmental conservation and sustainability, addressing green chemistry for the production of nutraceutical and phytotherapeutic products and design objects and costumes “Made in Italy”.
As part of a day of interactive workshops, meetings with researchers, guided tours and informative talks, Prof. Anna Giorgi – coordinator of the Ge.S.Di.Mont. Research Center. – presented the experience, unique at a national level, of the University of Milan Campus located in Edolo, in the heart of the Valcamonica.
An experience that focuses on environmental sustainability and mountain supply chains, interacting directly with the territory and with young people who want to live and work in the mountains in order to promote innovative development models.
