Ergot kernels were a terrible scourge in the past, and now modern climate and environmental conditions, especially due to the influence of climate change, make it a threat even today. Training of farmers is a fundamental aspect in the fight against the disease and in the preservation of food security especially due to the discontinuous nature of this cereal pathology.
At the same time, the link with history and folklore gives important input for the storytelling of local products.
