Three cultural events of excellence at Palazzo Besta (Teglio) for the Mid-Term meeting of the Interreg Project ConValoRe

The mid-term meeting of the Interreg “ConValoRe” project of which the UNIMONT Centre of the University of Milan is a partner will be held on Friday 20th May 2022 starting at 5.00 pm at Palazzo Besta in Teglio (SO).

Three excellent cultural events will be offered to the public: in-depth visits to the exhibition “Charles V, from the Uffizi to Palazzo Besta” and to the frescoes dedicated to the stories of the Aeneid that decorate the courtyard of the Palace as well as the preview presentation of the photographic exhibition “La Valtellina in Giro”, dedicated to the unique relationship that links great cycling to the Valtellina area.

The first appointment which includes an in-depth visit to the cycle of frescoes focused on the stories of the Aeneid that adorns the enchanting internal courtyard of the Palace, object of conservation intervention by the ConValoRe project, will be curated by Valentina Balconi, restorer, and Valentina Dall ‘Orto, author of the recently published book “L’Eneide figurata di Palazzo Besta a Teglio”.

Next, Giuseppina di Gangi, director of Palazzo Besta, will accompany visitors to discover the exhibition dedicated to Charles V, centered on the temporary presence in Palazzo Besta of the portrait of the emperor by Titian and studio, on loan from the Uffizi in Florence and on display at Palazzo Besta for one year. Finally, the painter Andrea Costa will present a preview of the photographic exhibition “La Valtellina in Giro”, of which he is curator together with Paolo Bozzuto, lecturer in urban planning at Milan Polytechnic.

The Progetto Interreg ConValoRe, of which the UNIMONT Centre of the University of Milan is a partner and which is headed by the municipality of Tirano and the Bernina Region, carries out activities related to cultural and landscape heritage aimed at strengthening the attractiveness of the territories of Valtellina and Valposchiavo. Over a three-year period, “ConValoRe” aims to promote initiatives for the conservation, knowledge and sustainable enhancement of the environmental and cultural resources of these territories, which are not always known to residents and tourists.
