Strengthening of local governance and development of mountain areas: these were the central themes of the meeting, held at the UNIMONT Centre, organized to present the ITALIAE Project, the purpose of which is to activate and promote moments of confrontation and interaction between administrators and stakeholders of mountain areas in order to trigger a specific intervention strategy and support for local governance.

A meeting held in the mountains and for the mountains by national and regional bodies, demonstrating that the use of a methodological approach that can lead to lasting results thanks to direct contact with the territory and its needs.

The meeting was, as highlighted by Anna Giorgi, coordinator of the Ge.S.Di.Mont. The presence of numerous stakeholders at the Edolo centre in fact helped to provide a clear picture of the current situation and the most important critical factors, such as depopulation, abandonment and aging of the population. Daily criticalities that require innovative solutions, a place-based approach and collaboration between local, regional and national bodies, as emphasized by Nicola Pasini, Department of Social and Political Sciences, University of Milan and member of the Ge.S.Di.Mont.
