In the Lombardy Region, at the EUSALP Annual Forum, 96 young people of the Alpine States to the first European #MountainHack for the sustainable development of the mountain territories

27-29 November 2019, Lombardy Region, Milan – The Assessor Caparini opened the activities of the first EU Mountain Hack, an international project marathon for sustainable mountain development that takes place in the context of the third Annual Forum of the European Strategy for the Alpine Region. The Mountain-Hack is promoted by the Ministry of Education, University and Research - MIUR as part of the school-university collaboration developed by UNIMONT – pole of Excellence located in Edolo of the University of Milan.

The EU #MountainHack, taking place at the Lombardy Region buildings in Milan, involves 96 secondary school students from 32 cities, 10 European regions and 4 Alpine countries in order to find innovative ideas for the development of the mountain territory. Davide Caparini - Assessor for the Budget, Finance and Simplification of the Lombardy Region has welcomed the students coming from the alpine countries, underlining the importance of mountain territories for the competitiveness and sustainable development of the macro-region. Subsequently, Lorenzo Micheli scientific coordinator of the #MountainHack project and Prof. Anna Giorgi - Coordinator of CrC Ge.S.Di.Mont. of UNIMONT opened the activities summarizing the activities that took place since 2017, highlighting how the future of mountain areas depends on the strategic alliance between institutions, citizens and young people who are passionate and prepared.

The event, promoted by the Ministry of Education, University and Research – MIUR, is part of the actions envisaged by the National Digital School Plan and is part of a series of Hackathons entirely dedicated to the development of mountain areas, born within the Italian Mountain Lab project - FISR, special supplementary fund for MIUR research carried out by UNIMONT – pole of Excellence seconded to Edolo of the University of Milan.

The first EU # Mountain Mountain Hack takes place in conjunction with the third Annual EUSALP Forum (EU Strategy for the Alpine Region). On Friday, 29th of November the results will be presented at the Annual Forum of the European Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) taking place at Palazzo Lombardia, Milan, in conclusion of the year of Italian presidency.
