From Tuesday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17, UNIMONT, the Alpine Hub of the University of Milan, together with the project partner, Regione Lombardia, participated in the third and final Partner Meeting in Kranjska Gora within the framework of the Interreg Alpine Space TranStat project.
The TranStat project supports Alpine communities traditionally tied to winter tourism in envisioning and implementing transition pathways and effective solutions to adapt to climate change. The event gathered project partners from the countries of the nine ski resorts under study, all located across the Alpine arc, where participatory process workshops and local stakeholder engagement activities were organized to define future strategies for a sustainable transition of these areas, which are heavily reliant on winter tourism and are now facing the impacts of climate change.
During the final meeting, partners shared the current status of the various Living Labs involved, providing updates on the activities carried out. Afterwards, project partners, together with Living Lab representatives, reflected on how to transform shared challenges and critical issues into strategies for the future. Special attention was given to identifying the most appropriate political level to address transition policies, considering different scales of intervention: from the local level to the intermediate, national, and even international levels.
The next steps before the project’s closure in October 2025 now involve sharing the future visions that emerged during the workshops with local policymakers and finalizing the “Cookbook,” which will compile all the experiences from the different Living Labs and the various strategies adopted.
