As part of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the International Association for Alpine History (AISA), scheduled from 2nd to 4th July at the Casa della Sostenibilità in Airolo (CH), the round table “The pioneer Alps. Innovation and forward thinking” will be held on Wednesday 3rd July. Prof. Anna Giorgi, head of the UNIMONT hub of the University of Milan, has been invited to participate.
The event, organized by AISA in collaboration with the Università di Svizzera Italiana and other Alpine cultural institutions, celebrates three decades of research and initiatives dedicated to the creation of a shared memory of the Alps, overcoming national borders and language barriers.
Professor Anna Giorgi will speak at the round table “The Pioneer Alps. Innovation and Forward thinking” with a contribution dedicated to innovation in mountain territories and the role of Alpine communities in pre-empting models of sustainability and development. The meeting, moderated by Andrea Bonoldi (University of Trento) and Nadja Germann (San Gottardo Programme), will also see the participation of Carmelia Maissen (State Councillor of the Canton of Grisons, Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Mobility) and Maurizio Dematteis (Associazione Dislivelli). Discussion will intertwine historical knowledge and contemporary planning, with the Alps as a cutting-edge laboratory.
