On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Lombardy Region Councillor for Education, Training and Employment, Dr Simona Tironi, visited the F. Meneghini Upper Secondary School in Edolo, meeting with students and gaining first-hand insight into the school’s teaching and laboratory activities. During the morning, the Councillor also visited the UNIMONT Centre of the University of Milan.
The visit was attended by the School Principal of the Meneghini Institute, Prof. Raffaella Zanardini, and Prof. Anna Giorgi, Head of the UNIMONT Centre, together with teaching staff, Massimo Maugeri, President of Valle Camonica Servizi, local administrators and military authorities, including Devis Kaswalder, Commander of the Edolo Carabinieri Station, and Carmine La Selva, Commander of the Edolo Forestry Carabinieri Station.
The morning began at the Meneghini Institute, where the Councillor visited the laboratories and took part in a tasting of products inspired by ancient flavours, prepared by students of the Institute and of UNIMONT, the Edolo campus of the University of Milan. This provided a concrete moment of dialogue with students, highlighting the role of the school as a place of experimentation, innovation and strong connection with local traditions.
This was followed by a greeting to the upper secondary school students in the green area in front of the Institute, delivered by Councillor Tironi, School Principal Raffaella Zanardini and Prof. Anna Giorgi, who emphasised the importance of integrated educational pathways capable of linking education, employment and local development, particularly in mountain contexts.
The Councillor then moved on to UNIMONT, where she was able to gain an in-depth understanding of the training and research activities of the Alpine Centre of the University of Milan, confirming Edolo’s role as a point of reference for higher education and the enhancement of mountain territories.
Councillor Tironi’s visit provided an opportunity to highlight how the collaboration between the Meneghini Institute and UNIMONT is helping to build a genuine cultural pipeline in Edolo, promoting dialogue between school, university and territory, and opening up opportunities for students in terms of learning, international mobility and direct participation in cultural and educational projects in mountain areas.
